father's day
Reflecting upon teary-eyed conversations,
Lifting my soul to the heavens through warm embraces.
It’s easy to celebrate today.
Reminders of a Creator who cherishes me,
Reflected in the ways that you love and encourage me.
It’s easy to celebrate you.
Created by a Father who knows the intricacies of my mind and heart,
Bond between father and daughter, the very best part.
It’s easy to celebrate us.
Formed by the same hands, our wires intertwined,
Taking from what was once yours, and making it mine.
Of course, it’s easy to celebrate that.
Hearts that beat fast and feel like explosions,
Leaning into uncertainty of untrustworthy emotions,
We’re learning to celebrate those.
Our struggles both mirrored and similar,
Fall on our knees before The Great Listener.
It’s humbling to lay before Him and celebrate
That we have the honor and privilege and invitation
To kneel before the throne and hear promises and affirmations.
It’s easy to celebrate how
Years and years, I am the child you sought.
To rely on the One who sees me, you taught
Me to live righteously and seek His Kingdom first,
Eternal water, Holy Spirit, quenching my thirst.
Chasing in the sunshiniest places,
Abba’s favor upon both of our faces.
Today we celebrate you, and all that you are
Son of God, and Papi to your thankful daughter.
